Last week we were given the option of picking an artist that we found interesting, studying their style, create a presentation, and finally make some of our own body of work influenced by your chosen artist. For this project I chose, Andy Warhol, who is a very famous pop artist. Andy Warhol mostly prints portraits of others, however, he has also printed a couple of himself.
Andy Warhol really focuses on the color in his work. He blocks certain areas out in the photos with bold/bright colors. Warhol mainly uses primary colors and tries to keep his color scheme as simple as possible, only using 2-3 colors per photo. Warhol used a wide variety of photo shapes and subjects in a photo to create diversity and a unique feel. One of Warhol's most famous pieces is a photo of Maryland Monroe. This print was produced in both single frames, and multiple frames, ranging from 2-6 photos combined. All the prints together created repetition. Eight Elvis' is another famous print by Warhol which shows off the repetition, you can probably tell by the title that there are eight Elvis' in the photo which creates a great deal of repetition.
