Depth

For this project, I was challenged to find three forms of Depth: Depth Staging, Repetition, and Leading Lines.

The next five photos, I attempted to capture depth staging. Depth staging is a pretty simple form of depth however it can be hard to find at times. Depth staging is when there is a figure or subject in the foreground as well as a subject in the background. Below you will see that I used props to show depth staging as well as finding depth staging naturally.

Leading Lines is a form of depth where there are one or two lines or shapes, that lead to a smaller point in the background. For all of these photos, I found the leading lines out on the streets. For this assignment, I did not set any up or use any props to portray leading lines.

Repetition is another form of Depth which uses the constant re-appearance of a shape in the frame to show depth. This assignment made me look at shapes and places that I would not usually think of, and allowed me to find repetition in places I would not have thought repetition could be found. I did not use any props to set up repetition, so all of these photos are taken out and about.

Comments

  1. Your leading lines photos are very well done. The depth being shown is very clearly represented, and the subjects feel far apart. Some of the lines in the leading lines photos are not as clear. The lines don't feel like the center of the focus of the photo. However in these photos depth is still well represented

  2. Your depth staging and repetition are very well done. I think you demonstrated each of them very well and for the repetition you showed it in ways I wouldn't have seen before. Some of the leading lines though seem to end up not leading to anything.

  3. I like how in each photo the rule is clear because it shows that you have a good understanding of what you were tasked with.I also liked how for mast you kept the colours simple as it gives them a pleasant look as well as more order.

  5. I really like that all of your photos had at least one main focus. Also, the colors really pop and highlight what you are trying to show as well.
